What does "accredited" mean in regard to the testing of child resistant packaging?

A certification body must meet specific criteria in regard to the quality of its work and its organization. These criteria are defined in the DIN 45011 standard. The accreditation, in turn, is granted by an accreditation body, e.g. DAP (The German Accreditation System Testing Body - Deutsches Akkreditierungssystem Prüfwesen GmbH), which also audits the accredited institutes regulary. The interests of the accreditation bodies are represented by the German Accreditation Council (Deutsche Akkreditierungsrat - DAR) which, in turn, is represented in international accreditation bodies. This ensures a uniform policy in all fields.
