Are there any labelling requirements for child resistant packagings?
No, there are not. Unfortunately, very few packagings are labelled correctly. Consequantly, consumers have no way of knowing whether or not a specific package meets the requirements for child resistance. In order to protect consumers, it would be urgently necessary to introduce mandatory identification rules on a worldwide or EU-wide scale.
Unfortunately there are people who try to gain profit from that by using packages which only make believe that they are child resistant. Here it is irrelevant whether the product that is sold in such a package is dangerous or not. If someone offers a "harmless" product in a pseudo-safety package, he deceives consumers. Here, the industry should raise its ethical standards and sense of responsibility. One advantage, among others, could be to achieve sustainable market success.
